In the Summer, enjoy a large park-like setting on the peaceful Crooked River known as "Devil's Elbow" in Alanson, Michigan. Bear Cabin allows you to enjoy your own private dock where you have easy water access and can park your boat. The Inland Waterway affords the opportunity to enjoy nearby Burt and Crooked Lake, Indian River or even travel all the way to Lake Huron through Mullett Lake and the Cheboygan River. The neighboring communities of Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Indian River provide an abundance of activities and events. The Farmers Markets showcase the amazing variety of farm fresh fruits and vegetables, plus many other locally sourced foods and supplies. The variety of community events and festivals ensure there is always a new place to explore. Hop in the car and take the short drive to Mackinac Island for a day trip and take in all the sights and sounds. For the explorers in your group, take in one of the many scenic hiking trails in the area, or hop on your bike and ride one of the near by biking trails. The not to be missed event of the year comes the second weekend of August. This is the weekend for the Top O' Michigan Marathon, put on by the Outboard Racing Club. It is known as the "worlds toughest outboard marathon". Bear Cabin is located on one of the most difficult stretches of the entire race. Summer Time is a great time to be in and around the Petoskey and Harbor Springs areas of Northern Michigan and Bear Cabin puts you right in the middle of the action.
In the fall, things begin to take a slower pace in the north. Mornings and evenings begin to get cold, setting the stage for the season's main event. The fall color show is not to be missed in and around Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Indian River and Cheboygan. The variety of colors is a sight to be seen. Be sure to drive the tunnel of trees on M119. This is a very scenic route, beginning in Harbor Springs, following the Lake Michigan Shoreline all the way to Cross Village. For a higher vantage point, stop by at Nearby Boyne Highlands and take a scenic chairlift ride to see the colors from above. Fall is the perfect time to slow down and hit up the Apple Festival in the neighboring town of Charlevoix. In the evening stop in and enjoy one of the many incredible restaurants of Northern Michigan. Fall is a truly wonderful time of the year "Up North", at Bear Cabin.
Once the leaves come down and the trees are bare, the cold northwest winds begin to blow. In the north that means one thing, SNOW, lots of it! There is nothing quite like spending the holidays in a Northern Michigan Cabin. Sitting next to a warm fire with the snow coming down over the river is a truly magical event. Those craving adventure will love waking up to a dumping of fresh powder and gearing up for an outdoor snow experience. Strap on your locally hand-crafted Shaggy's skis from Boyne City, and get the first chair of the morning at Boyne Highlands or Nubs Nob. Two of the top downhill skiing destinations in the Midwest. Just a little further down the road is Boyne Mountain resort. All of these offer a variety of terrain from beginner to expert and miles of groomed cross country trails. After your day on the slopes head into Harbor Springs or Petoskey for apres-ski at one of the local pubs. If speed is more your style, get the snowmobiles ready and hit up one of the local trails, giving you access to thousands of miles of snowmobile trails. Bear Cabin is located near the trail, allowing you to access the Indian River Snowmobile Trail system directly from the cabin. For those in your group daring enough, trailer your sleds to Mackinaw City, where riders can ride their snowmobile, on the ice, across Lake Huron, to Mackinaw Island! Even though it can be cold winter can be one of the most exciting seasons in Northern Michigan.
So if you are looking for a Cabin in Michigan, a lake cabin near Burt Lake or Crooked lake or maybe a peaceful weekend getaway cabin near Petoskey or Harbor Springs or perhaps a ski rental cabin near Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain or Nubs Nob, Bear Cabin Puts you in the middle of the best of Northern Michigan.
